Thurlow M. GORDON '06 of New York has accepted the post of Chairman of the Dartmouth Development Council, it was announced last month by Justin A. Stanley '33, Vice President of the College.
A partner in the New York law firm of Cahill, Gordon, Zachry and Reindel, Mr. Gordon in his new appointment succeeds H. Richardson Lane '07 of Boston. Ellwood H. Fisher '21 of Cleveland and Edwin W. McGowan '17 of Waterville, Me., have also been appointed alumni members of the Development Council by Orton H. Hicks 'si, president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council.
Mr. Gordon received the LL.B. degree from Harvard Law School in 1911, and upon completing his law studies was selected by the late Chief Justice Holmes to act as one of his personal secretaries. He was Special Assistant to the U.S. Attorney-General General from 1912 until 1916, and was with the Federal Trade Commission the following year. He has been a partner in his present firm since 1920, and has had a distinguished career in the field of the anti-trust laws. He has served as president of both the Dartmouth Lawyers Association.
Other members of the Dartmouth Development Council at present are Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College; Charles J. Zimmerman '23, College Trustee; John F. Meek '33, Treasurer and Vice President; and Anton A. Raven, Professor of English, is faculty representative.
