Dartmouth's sixth annual Summer Softball Tournament on July 26-27 brought to Hanover some 350 boys from seventeen camps in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine and for two days stepped up the tempo of summer life in the town. The campus was a noisy beehive of competition and rooting, culminating in the final victory of Winaukee over Granite Lake for the 1954 championship and the James D. Landauer ('23) Trophy, named for the alumnus who originated the tournament idea and has been active in its yearly development since 1949. For the second summer there was run at the same time a camp tennis tournament, won this year by Keewaydin with Pinnacle second.
The tournament finalists received camp banners, trophies and Dartmouth shirts, and all participants took away tournament shoulder patches and memories of an exciting visit to the College.
