Mountain Journal
April 1954

A 1953 edition of its Journal has been effectively written and published by the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club "to promote, encourage, and lead an active interest in mountaineering among Dartmouth men."

With a cover woodcut of Crestone Needle by Wilfred Bryan '54, the 39-page Journal has, in addition to the seven write-ups, eight photographs, six of them taken by Peter Robinson '54, of the Dartmouth climbers. The daring and skill required of the men who successfully climbed peaks in British Columbia, Colorado and Southern France are well illustrated by the photographs showing the treacherous summer snow and sheer rocky precipices which confronted the mountainclimbers last summer. "North Purcell Traverse, "Matterhorn Decision," "Above Lake Louise," are some headings of the articles describe in an informal, vivid and sometimes breath-taking manner the successes and occasional narrow escapes experienced.

The 1953 Journal may be purchased for $1.75 by writing to the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club, Robinson Hall, Hanover, N.H. Officers of the Club are: Peter Robinson 54, president; Michael Marx '54, vice presient; and Michael Roberts '55, secretary-treasurer.
