BY mid-April the Dartmouth varsity teams in baseball, lacrosse, tennis and golf had returned from their spring vacation trips to the southland and were busily prepping for the more formal part of their schedules. The results of the southern games were slightly disappointing, but considering the fact that the Dartmouth teams went on the trips without any outdoor practice, the results were not exactly unexpected. The baseball team won two games and lost six, while the lacrosse team had an identical record. The golf team showed unexpected power by winning six matches and losing three, while tennis had one win in six matches. The overall record for the four varsity teams was 11 wins against 20 defeats.
On the whole it has been a fairly quiet month on the athletic front. The annual banquet for members of the Dartmouth football squad was held in Thayer Hall with appropriate speeches and presentations. Going back on a policy of some years' standing, Coach Tuss McLaughry announced at the banquet that invitations for the September pre season training camp would be sent to all men in May; chiefly so that any player who felt he deserved a crack at early practice could have an opportunity to talk the matter over with the coaching staff before leaving college for the summer.
At this writing, thanks largely to the southern vacation trips, the Dartmouth spring teams have pretty well shaken down, so let's move in for a closer look at the individual teams and the prospects ahead.
