Dr. Thomas L. Norton '23 has recently accepted the posts of Dean of the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance and Professor of Management at New York University, according to an announcement on May 3 by Henry T. Heald, chancellor. Now Dean of the Bernard M. Baruch School of Business and Public Administration at the City College of New York, he will begin his new work on September 1.
Dean Norton is president of the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business and since 1933 has been active as an arbitrator of labor disputes. Among other assignments he has acted as industrial consultant to numerous governmental agencies and commissioner of mediation of the New York State Board of Mediation. Dr. Norton, formerly on the faculty of the University of Buffalo, has been Dean at City College for the past ten years. A member of Phi Beta Kappa honorary society, he was graduated from Tuck School in 1924 and received the Ph.D. degree from Columbia in 1932.
