THE Dartmouth Indian Chiefs, composed of five '57s, one '56 and one '54, have been engaged to play in a jazz concert at Boston's Symphony Hall on Friday, October 26, at 8:30 p.m., with Wilbur deParis and his NEW New Orleans Jazz Band.

Organized in early 1953, the Chiefs have enjoyed the success of professional engagements at New York's Jimmy Ryan's, Biltmore Hotel, and Carnegie Hall; at Boston's Savoy Cafe; at Bermuda's Elbow Beach Surf Club; and an appearance on Steve Allen's television show Tonight, as well as college dates throughout the East.

The deParis group has been the house band at Jimmy Ryan's in New York City for the past five years. Their instrumentation is the same as that of the Chiefs. Between the two groups exists a kind of musical father-and-son relationship, as the Chiefs receive much of their inspiration and style from the deParis band and have shared the Jimmy Ryan bandstand with them on numerous occasions.

Tickets for the October 26 concert at Symphony Hall are available at the Symphony Hall box office, Jordan Marsh, Filene's, and the Harvard Coop, and are priced at $3.50, $3.00, $2.50, and $2.00.

Peter E. Bullis '54, banjoist, is manager for the Chiefs. Alumni interested in the band's services can reach him at 1557 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, Mass., phone TRowbridge 6-2344.
