PROF. WILLIAM R. KENDALL of the Dartmouth music department has received a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies to enable him to finish the book, Music in American Culture, which he is writing with Carleton Sprague Smith. He will travel in Latin America until the start of the fall term in September.

Professor Kendall has been a music consultant for the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during the past year. Mr. Smith, with whom he is writing his volume on the music of the Americas, is a member of the staff of the same office.
