Undefeated in seven dual meets and tied for first place in the Ivy Swimming League up to that point, Dartmouth ran afoul of Harvard's strong team in Spaulding Pool on February 18 and lost 47 to 37. With Yale due to visit Hanover the following week, the Indians will probably absorb one more league defeat but will still end their dual-meet season with a good overall record.

In late January the Big Green swimmers swamped Columbia 67-15, then defeated Army during Carnival 47-37, and on the following weekend tied Princeton 43-48 and had a field day against Penn 64-20.

Captain Duke Hust and sophomores Bill Bahrenburg and Ernie Drosdick continue to pace the swimmers. Drosdick set a new College and pool record in the Army meet when he swam the 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.1 and then went on to win the 100-yard freestyle race with Hust second. Hust annexed the 220-yard freestyle with Bahrenburg second.

One week later, Dartmouth ran into suffer opposition and had to come from behind to tie Princeton 42-42 at the Princeton pool. Drosdick was again outstanding for the Big Green as he won both the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley and anchored the Dartmouth 400-yard relay team which won that event to tie the meet. The Tigers took six of ten first places but superior depth helped the Indians. Noel Sankey's second place in the dive and Captain Duke Hust's second in the 100yard event also helped Dartmouth to tie Princeton, which also was undefeated in league meets at that time.

The next day, in Philadelphia, Dartmouth had little trouble defeating Pennsylvania 64-20. Once again sophomore star Ernie Drosdick led the way by winning both the 220 and 100-yard freestyle races to remain undefeated in the fourteen individual races he had swum this season. Captain Duke Hust anchored both the winning 300-yard and 400-yard relay teams for Dartmouth as the Green swimmers captured eight out of ten first places.
