An illustrated medical strip which has proved to be an instant success with the public is "Dr. Guy Bennett," by Michael A. Petti '37, M.D., who is a specialist in Internal Medicine. The feature, which is a year old this month, is now appearing in a large number of newspapers in this country and abroad, and deals with a hypothetical series of cases, which become human dramas as they are treated by Dr. Guy Bennett, "a modern physician who is engaged in private practice. He is more than just a healer, he is a friend and confidant." N

Having the popular appeal of the "doctor book," at one time a must in the family library, this cartoon series also has won the approval of other doctors, who have commended its accuracy and authenticity and the stimulating way its cases are presented. A color page was added in January.

In February, Dr. Petti's strip served to reassure the family of ail 8-year-old Cleveland boy who successfully underwent a heart operation exactly like one then being explained in the strip. Earlier, in Adelaide, Australia, a large number of new diabetics were uncovered when the strip dealt with a diabetic patient of Dr. Guy Bennett's.

Michael A. Petti, who uses the penname of Dr. B. C. Douglas, was a Rufus Choate Scholar, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, at Dartmouth. He received the M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1941 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Following four years of specialized training in Internal Medicine, Dr. Petti began private practice in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1949.

The father of three sons, he is married to the former Helen Thompson, also a practicing physician, who collaborates with him on the continuities for "Dr. Guy Bennett." A professional does the art work for the strip, which is distributed by Lafa fave Newspaper Features of Cleveland.
