A dual meet with Yale and the IC4A and Heptagonal meets have been the fare for the Indian track team during the past month. The team winds up its winter season this coming weekend (March 17) against Columbia and has a record of three dual meet wins, two losses, a first place in a quadrangular meet, and third in the Heptagonals.

In the most recent encounter the Big Green lost to Yale 60½ to 48½ with the Elis capitalizing on their mile and two-mile relay teams to win. Captain Lou Metzger and Bill Buchanan tied for first in the pole vault, while Doug Brew won both the mile and two-mile events for the Indians. John Chapman and Bob Sterling teamed up for first and second in the 60-yard high hurdles, but the Indians couldn't place in the dash. Willie Einarsson's second place in both the broad jump and shotput coupled with George Bixby's first in the 35-pound weight toss gave Dartmouth fans early hope for victory, but Yale swept the 600 and 1000-yard runs and both relay events to wrap up the victory.

The Dartmouth team did well in the Heptagonals with a 30-point total, while Harvard won with 39 points and Cornell took second with 36. Doug Brew was outstanding as he won the mile race and anchored the winning Dartmouth relay team of Sandy Heath, Dick Stokesbury and Dick Schad. Metzger and Buchanan again tied in the pole vault with leaps of 13'4", but this time had to settle for second place. Dick Schad's third in the 1000-yard run, John Chapman's third in the 60-yard high hurdles, and Bixby's third in the weight added the rest of Dartmouth's points.

In the major meet of the Eastern season, the IC4AS, Captain Lou Metzger and Bill Buchanan once again tied for second in the pole vault, while Brew placed fifth in the mile and the other Big Green entries did not qualify for the final competitions.

It has been a good indoor season for the track team and the prospects for the spring season are even brighter.
