Harr F. Ranney '24, who died last June, was posthumously honored by the Alumni Fund Committee at the class agents dinner in New York in late March. Following is the special citation read and presented to Mrs. Ranney at the dinner:

Wise and energetic leadership has always played a major role in the success of Dartmouth's Alumni Fund. Men that have given so generously of their time and means have, by their very example, blazed a trail for others to follow.

Harr Ranney was one of these men. In the three years when he was 1924 Class Agent, the giving record of his class more than doubled, reaching $28,070 and representing 111% of class objective. His leadership was evidenced further by a substantial increase in participation.

As a result of his achievement the class of 1924 rose in a few years from relative obscurity among the classes of its era to become one of Dartmouth's finest classes.

Dartmouth has been blessed with many great sons whose loyalty and efforts on her behalf have helped to bring her to the pre-eminent place she now enjoys among educational institutions. Dartmouth has had no more devoted son than Harr Ranney. His death on the last day of the Alumni Fund Campaign of 1955 leaves a gap which cannot be filled

The Alumni Fund Committee, conscious of this grievous loss, unanimously resolved to award this special citation to Harr F. Ranney which is presented on Dartmouth's behalf to his family.
