The Alumni Fund office on July 6 did not yet have final figures for the 1956 campaign, but it knew that "Dartmouth's greatest year" was a reality and that magnificent, recordsmashing results had been achieved in all departments.

A July 6 bulletin to all Fund workers gave these figures:

Dollars — $860,000 plus. This is $85,000 beyond the 1956 objective and by the same margin exceeds last year's record amount.

Contributors— 20,000 plus. Through a gain of some 800 gifts over last year, the 20,000 level has been reached for the first time.

Participation — 70% plus. This cracks another Fund barrier. The exact extent to which Dartmouth alumni have gone beyond the 69.4% of last year is undetermined, but total participation will be between 70 and 71%.

Parents - A record number of 1300 Dartmouth parents made gifts totaling $55,000 plus, the highest amount in the six years they have participated in the Fund campaign.

Individual class records were established to match the overall success of the 1956 Fund. The Class of 1925, with more than $33,000, set a new dollar mark and is one of two, possibly three, classes to exceed $30,000 for the first time. The Class of 1946, with 562 contributors, broke its own record of 544 gifts set two years ago.
