The first steps toward the establishment of a new Dartmouth alumni club in Florida were taken when 30 Dartmouth men from the Sarasota-Bradenton area met at Martine's in Sarasota for dinner on March 19. Bill Cunningham '19, who was in Florida to cover the Red Sox and other major league teams in training, was the guest speaker. Bill was his real self and the talk was enthusiastically enjoyed.
A committee had been formed prior to the dinner to bring in a plan of procedure for launching the new club, but organization details were held over until a second meeting, to be held in April before the summer season ends. However, a slate of officers was proposed and unanimously elected, as follows: President, Warren Kendall '99; Vice President, Robert Kenyon '07; Secretary-Treasurer, Ned Bartlett '04; Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Paul Clements '19.
There is strong feeling within the group that another West Coast club, in addition to the one at St. Petersburg, can be a worthwhile alumni undertaking and an asset in promoting the interests of the College.
