THE election of eight new members of the Dartmouth Alumni Council and the reelection of two present members were announced last month by Sidney C. Hayward '26, secretary of the Council. All these Councilors were declared elected without contest following the closing of nominations on March 10.
The new members, who take office July 1, are from five of the seven districts of the country, as follows:
DISTRICT I, New England States Daniel B. Ruggles Jr. '21 of Boston, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Robert M. Edgar '28 of Boston.
DISTRICT II, Middle Atlantic States Joseph C. Mansfield '44 of Philadelphia, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Edwin C. Chinlund '29 of Pittsburgh; and Carl P. Ray '37 of New York City, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Harry H. Enders '29 of New York City.
DISTRICT III, Central States - Henry L. Parker '26 of Chicago, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Warren L. Fellingham '26 of Chicago; and Ellwood H. Fisher '21 of Cleveland, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Lee A. Chilcote '30 of Cleveland.
DISTRICT IV, Middlewestern States Hugo Schnabel Jr. '42 of Kansas City, Kansas, elected for a first term of two years, succeeding Alfred W. Gordon Jr. '41 of Omaha.
DISTRICT VII, Western States - Ritchie C. Smith '26 of San Francisco, elected to a first term of two years, succeeding Guy P. Wallick '21 of San Francisco; and Albert C. Boncutter '32 of Seattle, elected to a first term of two years, succeeding George C. Nickum '31 of Seattle.
In the other two districts of the country, reelections took place as follows:
DISTRICT V, Southern States - William C. Embry '34 of Louisville, Ky., reelected for a second term of two years.
DISTRICT VI, Southwestern States Franklin J. Cornwell '35 of St. Louis, reelected to a second term of two years.
