Recently a group of alumni living in the Darien-Norwalk, Conn., area met to discuss the formation of a Dartmouth Club as a section of the Dartmouth Club of Western Connecticut. Darien residents supporting and speaking for the establishment of the local club included Windsor C. Batchelder '19, Eugene D. Towler '17, Robert S. Smith '35, John A. Sawyer '36, Judge William H. Timbers '37, Alexander Jones Jr. '38 and Stephen F. Mandel '52.
James G. Hodge Jr. '29 of Norwalk was appointed chairman o£ the nominating committee to recommend officers and a board of governors. Serving with him on the committee are John N. Bathrick '34, Stephen F.Mandel '52, Charles J. Chapman '33, and Philip Penberthy '44.
The new club will serve nearly 200 local alumni, and its formation will provide the College with the best possible local public relations, as well as create closer ties between local alumni. Plans for both social and educational activities, as a means of establishing a scholarship fund for local prospective students, will be made.
