A dual celebration and tea dance was held at the Dartmouth Club of New York on Friday, October 5. The occasion marked the world-wide observance of Dartmouth Night and also completed the first year of operation of this Club in its new quarters. Inclement weather, as in Hanover, curtailed the attendance in numbers, but not enthusiasm. We wish that more of you had made it,.. and to prepare yourselves for next year come in any weekday noon or evening and partake of Dartmouth fellowship in New York.
On the Saturday afternoon of the Harvard football game the Club kept open house for all members and invited alumni of the younger classes. The TV reception was good, the play of the game was great, and the comfortable surroundings and con- viviality made the Club's seats the best fifty-yard-line accommodations west of Soldiers Field.
On Thursday, November 1, the Club held a reception honoring Bus Mosbacher '43 and Buddy Bombard '55, skipper and crew member respectively of the victorious America's Cup defender Weatherly. The Club was awash with the crowd of salt water enthusiasts who came out in tribute. President Nick Sandoe '19 gave Bus a Dartmouth captain's chair. The response by Bus in words of great humility and feeling convinced all present that this skipper's capacity for leadership is not confined to deep water sailing!
