DARTMOUTH CLUB OF OREGONCELEBRATES FIFTIETH
Over thirty members and guests of the Dartmouth Club of Oregon gathered together on Dartmouth Night, October 26, to celebrate its fiftieth year as an alumni organization. After a cocktail hour and dinner at the University Club, Campbell Richardson '52 introduced Director of Admissions, Eddie Chamberlain '36, who in the spirit of Dartmouth Night reminisced concerning personalities and events in the Dartmouth past. Eddie also produced a priceless piece from the April, 1912, ALUMNI MAGAZINE concerning the formation of a new alumni group in Oregon.
Sam Martin '27, "Mr. Dartmouth" of Oregon and NEC member, reported briefly on recent enrollment successes in Oregon, and commended members of his committee for their work, including John Storrs '42,John Crowell '52, Barnie McPhillips '50, and Tom Dewey '53, who were present.
Among the guests were Mrs. Chamberlain and Betsy Snite, Olympic skier from Hanover, a guest with her father (Albert O. Snite '32) of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Lobitz Jr., parents of Walter Lobitz III '65. Alumni in attendance included (but were not necessarily limited to) Dr. William Fletcher '52,Edward Nicholson '49, Ken Montgomery'25, Jack Patrick '36, Bill Rohlffs '28, JimKudnick '44, Dud Sercombe '27, Fred Lock year '59, and John Hanson '59.
The Club on its Fiftieth consists of some eighty alumni in and around Portland, another thirty alumni throughout the state, and approximately 25 undergraduates.
