Tabulation 0f plans filed by Dartmouth's 1962 graduates shows that 73% of the 607 men covered by the survey will probably go on to graduate school within three or four years after graduation. A large majority of the class, 61%, have already entered graduate school. Another 10% plan graduate study after they complete military service, and 2% expect to begin graduate work after they complete Peace Corps and similar assignments. The total of 73% in the Class of 1962 compares with 70% of the Class of 1961 who indicated plans for graduate study.
Of the 371 men presently in graduate school, 83 hold fellowships and twenty have assistantships.
The survey shows that 128 of last June's graduates, or 21%, went directly into military service, 117 men with commissioned rank. Sixty-two men, or 10.2%, began jobs, and 27 or 4.4% failed to indicate definite plans.
