Let's get hot on that fund drive, guys. I hate to say this but the 60's are way ahead of us for the moment anyway. I would like to remind you all that the 60's were the clods that wore the little black beanies and had S.O.C. tattooed all over their proud little bodies and who took such delight in harassing our brotherhood whilst we were but naive freshmen. Participation is the big thing this time, and there's no reason why all of us can't give or pledge something. Help save Rog McArt from the wrath of Crosby Hall. Keep Dartmouth green. Send money A.S.A.P.
Bruce and Merry Baker are the proud parents of Geoffrey Scott. G.S.B. was born on March 27 in Evanston where Pops is booking it up at Northwestern and Mom is teaching in the Chicago School system. Dave Kehl, who is stationed aboard the "USS Monrovia" and presently parked about 1000 yards away here in Naples Bay is going to have to fight wind, tide, and current to get back to Norfolk before his wife, Bunny, has their first. Bunny is expecting Junior on the 14th and Dave on the 15th. This should be interesting, I've never seen anybody try and swim in from Bermuda before. Richard W. Husband III made his debut on April 2 in Hanover. The folks, Rick and Julia Husband (that's Rick Husband, the Husband who's Julia's, Mrs. Husband's, husband), have built a playpen out of old Eccy books and all goes well at Sachem (now known as "Fertile Valley" I understand). Faithful Ron Heinemann came through with his regular report on the doings of all the Phi-Delts to date, seems that Ron himself, in spite of all his protestations to the contrary, is going to "throw over his anchor" and sacrifice his bachelorhood for Miss Sandy Wood. Ron expects to enter the lists this summer sometime. Tad Foote wed the former Miss Gail palmer Clark on February 17 in East Northfield, Mass. The Feet are now living in Orange, Conn. (I know that doesn't sound right, but Professor Stewart said never to say "Foote's"). "Dads" Prewitt and Joanie are living it up on Scotch and circuses with the Quickels in Hangover. Poor Prewitt got caught by the Army and is now serving his time in Virginia. Bobby Moore is with the financial branch (natchurally) of the Army in Texas. Jim Richards outsmarted himself by joining a Texas Army Reserve Unit, unfortunately that unit was one of those called up, so Workie is peeling spuds and thinking how clever he was. Howie and Tammie Keys are both teaching in high schools around Titusville, Fla. Big Don Wells is trying to figure out how to play Rugby on the main deck of the submarine he is on. The snorkel works fine for a goal-post, but the lineouts give him a little trouble and he's lost three fast halfbacks in the drink already.
Ford Daley married Miss Gloria Beaulieu on May 5. Ford is studying at Tufts and Glo is nursing at Beth Israel in Boston. Larry Cantley finally smooth-talked Miss Jamelle O'Connell into living with his bad habits (poker, impersonations) and they plan to be married on June 23. I don't know how many of you heard the story of Cantley's masterpiece or not but it seems that he passed himself off as a B.U. student to gullible Dutton Foster. Cantley held up under Foster's pointed questioning regarding the team, coach, curriculum, and social life at his "alma mater," and Foster didn't find out till last June that old Larry probably hadn't even seen B.U., much less gone there. Word of caution, watch out, Jamelle, it might not be the real Larry Cantley - check his I.D. Andy Morse, whose touch football prowess will surely carry him to the White House, is engaged to Miss Diane Duffey of Oakland, Calif. Both Moze and the future Mrs. Moze are graduates of U.C. at Berkeley. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Bosworth left for Panama City, Panama, where Bos will spend the next two years at the embassy keeping things under control. After his four years trying to keep Gerfen out of the Dean's Office, Panama should be a gut. "Rooter" is still in the Army. They confiscated his sax, claiming that it bore too close a resemblance to a Nike Zeus missile and would give away secrets - some people just can't win. FrankSmall is engaged to Miss Patricia Josephine Gilford. The Small-man is at Stanford Law trying to figure out the small print on a marriage contract.
Bill Figilis has joined the firm of Blaisdell Publishing as a field' representative out of N. Y. I think they've put him on the Henry Miller case, but I'm not sure.
Sam Bryan is at International House in New York going through a course of preparation as a Peace Corps member. He is scheduled to be sent to Jamaica in the West Indies next month. In association with his famous father, Julien Bryan, Sam has recently completed three documentary films on Africa, Yugoslavia, and Turkey.
I'll close out with a few addresses for the pen-pals in the crowd. Charles Balas is with the 4th Logistics Command, APO 122, N. Y., N. Y. Pete Bleyler is aboard the USS Sterlet," FPO, San Francisco. Personally, I'll be leaving for Barcelona in a week, then back to the States. Let's all stop procrastinating about this fund drive, men. Just a couple of minutes time will let Rog know you are willing; and we can all spare a few bucks. If Bill Sommers, with all his traveling and expenses, can come through with twenty bucks, I'm sure the rest of us can scrape up something. Our class had a fine record while at Hanover, and there's no sense letting that die out or let ourselves slip into complacency concerning so important a part of our lives as Dartmouth.
Secretary, U.S.S. Linden Wald (LSD-6) Fleet Post Office New York, N. Y.
