The honor of being the top class agent of a class 11 to 25 years out of college was bestowed on George B. Munroe '43 last month when the Dartmouth class officers held their annual spring meeting in Hanover. In awarding him the Harvey P. Hood Trophy for 1963 campaign achievement, Alumni Fund Chairman Charles F. Moore Jr. '25 cited Munroe as follows:
The Class of 1943 has often been a bridesmaid in the Alumni Fund Green Derby competition, but, until last spring, never a bride. Then, under your effective and inspired leadership, the Class celebrated its twentieth year out of College with a resounding first place finish in the Group Six Green Derby race over some of the toughest competition in this Dartmouth league. During each of your four years as Head Agent 1943 has moved vigorously ahead with new dollar levels achieved during the past two campaigns. Last year, with the support of a first-rate team of 1943 Class Agents, your Class raised $16,443 from 383 donors, thus helping to establish a solid foundation upon which to build over the next five years leading to your 25th year reunion. You have served your Class, your Alumni Fund and your College with distinction. The Alumni Fund Committee is indeed privileged to honor you and your Class by presenting to you, as the outstanding Head Agent of a Class eleven through twenty-five years out of College, with the 1963 Harvey P. Hood Trophy.
