At the annual meeting of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover last month, Charles I. Lampee '04 was awarded the James B. Reynolds Trophy as the outstanding head agent of a class more than 25 years out of college. His work in the 1963 campaign was cited as follows by Alumni Fund Chairman Charles F. Moore Jr. '25:
If any Head Agent now in the room can look back over twenty years of continuous service in that important role, let him speak now or forever hold his peace, for in saluting you, sir, that is exactly the record which we are honoring. Although the Class of 1904 has lost almost two-thirds of the members who were living when you took over as Head Agent in 1944, you and your associates have moved the class dollar totals well ahead of that 1944 level. The 179 percent participation mark set in 1963, highest of any class in Green Derby Competition, bespeaks the admirable effort made under your thoughtful leadership to honor the memories of many deceased classmates through the memorial gift program. You won your Green Derby Group I Competition last year, and you have another year to strive for that first place honor again before stepping out of the active competition on the occasion of your sixtieth year reunion. Dartmouth, the Alumni Fund Committee, and all Class Agents gathered here are greatly privileged to recognize you and the great 1904 family by presenting you with the James B. Reynolds Trophy, signifying your achievements as the outstanding Head Class Agent of a class more than twenty-five years out of College.
