The honor of being the Class Newsletter
JUNE 1965

The honor of being the Class Newsletter Editor of the Year was conferred on Richard W. Lippman '42 at the annual luncheon of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover last month. J. Michael McGean '49, Associate Secretary of the College, made the award with the following citation:

You have labored long in the vineyards for Dartmouth — as Head Class Agent, as President and Secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia, as an enrollment and admissions worker, and for the last nine years as Class Newsletter Editor. Your regular issues reflect the careful workmanship in style and layout that one would expect of a first-rate offset printer.

Editorially your trademark has been crisp writing which tells the story. Under your editorship 1942 has been provided with a nice balance of class news, class business, and news of the College. You have attempted to give your classmates the type of newsletter they will want to read and, in turn, will want to support with more news. Your intent has paid dividends, which is the hallmark of any successful editor.

We could also mention your capabilities as an editor of 1942 class directories and reports, and now you are working on the big 25-Year Book. But as you do in all your Dartmouth work, you take it in stride and your class knows that the finished product will be topnotch.

Today as we gather to honor those who have given so much of their time and energy for Dartmouth, it is a privilege to recognize you as Class Newsletter Editor of the Year.
