Vignettes of the Class of '29 Delayed 35th: 85 of us, with wives and progeny breaking bread in the vast confines of Leverone Field House, with the rain pelting down outside ... meeting later in College Hall, to go over old times, and even to dance ... class meeting in one of the beautiful Hopkins Center theatres, where the following business was transacted: Chairman Cart Strickland, Vice-Pres. Duke Barto, Vice-Pres. Bill Keyes, Sec. Gene Davis, Treas. Jack Hubbard, Class Agent GerrySwope, Bequest Chairman Jack Gunther, News Letter Editor Harry Baehr, Reunion Chairman Trunky Brittan. Executive Committee Herb Ball, Walt Bergstrom, Jack Blair, Dick Brown, Bing Carter, Dick Burke, Johnny Cooke, Dick Eberline, Hal Hirsch, Jack Moxon, Duke Barto, Ed Chinlund, Frank Foster, Mo Heath, Fred Ingram, Lyt Johnston, Bob Lyle, Chris Born, Dave Martin, Ed Walsh, Phil Mayher, Gus Wiedenmayer, Harlan Taylor, Paul Woodbridge, Squeek Redding.
The changes in the By-Laws were: 1. Officers and Executive Committee members to be elected by the Class at each regular Class Reunion, with the Executive Committee empowered to fill any vacancy. 2. Executive Committee to be increased to 25 members. 3. Dues increased this year to $8.50 ... forgot to say that we filled Woodward, Ripley, Smith, and spilled over into Top liff ... after the meeting a delightful luncheon at Hopkins, then the Class Dinner at the Inn, at which time appropriate accolades were given to the outgoing officers, who did such a very fine job ... some of us attended the show "Wonderful Town" and were treated to a real professional performance in every way ... next morning we attended a moving Memorial Service, after which we had our picnic on the lawn adjacent to the Outing Club House, a delightful setting and excellent cuisine ... must say that the wives of the Twenty Niners showed what very good taste we still have in women.
Guys that we were glad to see, possibly for the first time at a reunion, Bill Keyes, all the way from California, as was BenScales, and Paul Nouri, who says he'll never miss another reunion. ... The prize for the greatest distance traveled went to Bill Coles, from Caracas. And Harlan Taylor thumbed up from Houston. ... Faces we missed were Lyt Johnston, Duke Barto, Cal Soriero,Jack Ackley, Steve Balkam, John Cooke, AlBellerose, Phil Fitzpatrick, Brookes White,Carl Spaeth, and a host of others ... the handsome guys of years gone by are still the same, such as the Gunthers, the Wiedenmayers, the Burkes, and many others.
