OCTOBER 1966

Dartmouth's 1966 Alumni Fund campaign achieved bright new records as 22,797 alumni, parents and friends contributed $1,937,790 to the 52nd annual drive. This was $37,790 above the $1,900,000 goal and $157,000 over the total raised in the 1965 campaign.

The donor total also was a Fund record, with 67% of all alumni contributing, down one percent from last year, but still the largest alumni participation percentage of any major college or university in the nation.

Many Dartmouth classes compiled records of their own with 37 classes reaching or exceeding their dollar goals, and 46 classes achieving record dollar totals. Thirty-one classes had 100% or better in participation, and sixteen classes set new participation records.

The 1966 Fund totals included some $63,000 contributed by 1,505 parents of undergraduates and recent graduates to the Dartmouth Parents Fund. There were 1,482 memorial and miscellaneous gifts for $68,424, some $125,000 in corporate matching contributions, and $157,295 of Memorial Fund income credited to the '66 Fund.

The Class of 1942 led all classes by raising an all-time high of $77,569. The Class of 1941, in its 25th year, contributed $68,898. Nine classes raised $50,000 or more.

Nearly 4,000 alumni worked for the Alumni Fund during the intensive April 1 to June 30 drive directed by Chairman Rupert C. Thompson Jr. '28 and a tenmember Alumni Fund Committee of the Alumni Council. A detailed report on the 1966 campaign will appear as an insert in next month's issue.
