Professor of History John C. Adams has translated Russian author Dmitri V. Pavlov's account of the long blockade of the city of Leningrad during World War II into English for the first time. Published under the title Leningrad 1941: The Blockade, the Adams translation of the Pavlov book is a valuable reference for scholars interested in this phase of the war - and for general readers too. Pavlov was the chief of food supplies for both the civilian and military populations in the besieged city. The translation has been published by the University of Chicago Press (1965, 186 pp., $4.50).
