Demolition of portions of Rogers Garage on Lebanon Street, near the rear of Hopkins Center and the heating plant, will begin soon. The showroom wing will be demolished and the site landscaped, but the repair and storage facilities at the back and east side of the lot will be retained and remodeled for storage and office space.
The garage property was purchased by the College when the former owners decided to build a new garage on Route 120 between Hanover and Lebanon.
Meanwhile across campus, huge girders are being carefully placed on white concrete columns as the Peter Kiewit Computation Center progresses upward. The new computation facility is on the corner north of Baker Library and adjacent to Gerry and Bradley Halls.
Just a few steps away from Kiewit's girders, workmen are digging into the frozen ground to prepare the Daniel Webster Cottage for its short trip across North Main Street to a new location near Cutter Hall.
