THE Dartmouth Rugby Club has finished another very successful season. Each year the club compiles one of the best overall winning records among all the intercollegiate teams representing Dartmouth. Unable to quite match the football team this year, the club finished the spring season with a 5-1-0 record, losing to Yale 23-6 in the Hartford Cup Match.

Before the season began Dartmouth received invitations to the Monterey Tournament in California, the Notre Dame Tournament at South Bend, and the Bahamas Festival in Nassau. Because of the club's excellent record last year Dartmouth was rated as one of the best in the Eastern Rugby circuit. Attending both the Bahamas Festival and the Notre Dame Tournament, the club sought to confirm its reputation. In the Bahamas the Big Green tied the Bahamas team and dropped a heart-breaker to Williams to finish in the second ranks. But on April 16 in Hanover the "Ruggers" defeated Williams, 11-6, to regain some of their lost stature, and with victories over the University of Virginia 9-6, Kansas University 8-0, Boston RFC 11-3, herst 5-3, and Harvard 11-8, the club was eager to prove itself at Notre Dame

In the Notre Dame tourney the Big Green had one win and two losses. Virginia, previously beaten by Dartmouth turned the tables 5-0, and the host team also won 8-0. Dartmouth responded to warmer weather the next day by trouncing the Chicago Rugby Club 18-0.

Because of its successes and recognized organizational abilities, the club was chosen as the only college club to host one of two visiting European teams this spring. On May 31 Rosslyn Park RFC brought two teams to Hanover with 24 additional guests including the President of the British Rugby Union. They received three days of Hanover hospitality from the Dartmouth RFC, Hanover residents, and Dartmouth College. In 1959 1962, and 1964 the Dartmouth club traveled to Europe to play. In Germany, Ireland, England, and Scotland they received high praise for their performances as well as their sportsmanship.

On June 1, 1966 Dartmouth is to play Rosslyn Park in Hanover and return some long overdue hospitality to its British guests. Dinners, a banquet, picnicking, swimming, and a mixer are planned for the players and guests. In addition, the merchants of Hanover have been immensely generous with their support. The Britishers will be treated to complimentary tickets to the Nugget, Golfside Recreation Center, Dartmouth Films, and a tour of the Hanover area by Jim Campion Jr. with his family camper bus.

The Rugby Club is run completely by Dartmouth students with the coaching and advice of Corey Ford of Hanover. They have an excellent record of responsible administration. Over 150 Dartmouth men participate in rugby some time in their four years at Dartmouth, and the club operates on a modest yearly budget of $1000, not including costs of the tours. All funds are raised by the students through dues and through the "Friends of Dartmouth Rugby" program. Parents, alumni, and loyal followers annually support the organization by their contributions to Friends of Dartmouth Rugby, Box 966, Hanover, N. H.

The club is anxious to introduce new Friends to the sport of rugby. A schedule can be obtained from Tenison Deane '67, president of the Dartmouth Rugby Club, Phi Delta Alpha fraternity, Hanover, N. H.
