Commencement exercises on June 11, which will mark the conclusion of Dartmouth's Canadian Year as well as the academic year, will feature Canada's Minister of Trade and Commerce, Robert H. Winters, as the principal speaker.
Mr. Winters assumed his cabinet post in January 1966 after 30 years of service in government, business, and the Canadian armed forces. He has previously held portfolios as minister of reconstruction and supply, minister of resources, and minister of public works.
A native of Nova Scotia, he was graduated from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, then attended M.I.T. where he received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in electrical engineering. Before returning to Parliament in 1965, Mr. Winters was president and chairman of the board of Rio Algom Mines, Ltd.
