James P. McFarland '33 of Minneapolis, president and chief executive officer of General Mills Co., has been appointed chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Tuck School. In this position, he takes over a responsibility formerly exercised by President Dickey, who remains an ex-officio member of the board. This new precedent in the chairmanship is intended to strengthen the ties between Tuck and the nation's business community.
The Dartmouth Trustees have also announced the appointment to the Board of Overseers of Stanley H. Feldberg '46 of Wellesley Hills, Mass., president of the Zayre Corporation, and David T. McLaughlin '54, '55T, of Chicago, president of the Champion Packages Company and vice president and division manager of U. S. Plywood-Champion Papers, Inc. Both are prominent in alumni affairs and Mr. McLaughlin is currently president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago.
Mr. McFarland, a 1934 Tuck graduate, has been an Overseer since 1967. The 15-man board over which he now presides meets semiannually to review the operations and curriculum of Tuck School. Members serve for three-year terms and are appointed by the Trustees of the College.
