The time has come to sing my swan song as 99 secretary, and although some '99 news may appear here from time to time, with the help of others, the idea of a regular class column for the four of us is no longer meaningful, as they say.
At our 70th reunion in June, a wonderful occasion for the '99 family, the editor gave me his word that he would no longer hold out against the silly but sincere little ditty with which I wish to end my enjoyable years as an ALUMNI MAGAZINE scribe.
He has the softest touch Has Charlie, Sound judgment, though, as much As friendly parley; Nor does he make it seem a crutch Which might be rough and gnarly - He'll never make it seem as such, Not Charlie.
He's always best when in the clutch Of circumstance So when you've lost your stance Don't growl "It beats the Dutch!"
Just don't succumb, just hum:
"I need you, Charlie!"
