The annual letter of Olivia Allaway, daughter of Oliver W. Foster, tells of the activities of her supremely energetic family. Her husband Bill who is very much engaged in the foreign educational program of U. of California finds preparedness the larger part of wisdom. "His bags are always packed, For climates cold and hot." This fall Olivia, with a sigh of relief, dropped household responsibilities, the care of her three children, and took off with Bill for a vacation in Europe. There is some doubt as to whether travel is relaxation or very much hard work. They visited

"Deutschland, Denmark, Sweden, Then Norway's blue fjords; Golf and castles in Scotland, Then England's pubs and lords."

Evidently the children were quite capable of looking after themselves during this period. Bill and Olivia were back in time to participate in the usual family Christmas festivities.

Ruth Ashton, daughter of Arthur Hayden, speaks appreciatively of the annual Christmas letter. It called up very precious memories of her father and his many stories of college days. She writes that her husband Ralph, because of illness was forced to retire earlier than he expected to do. This, however, is not altogether a misfortune since it has enabled them to visit together places they never had time for before.

It was a pleasure to recently receive a letter from Carl Guild, son of Frank Guild. His grandfather, Dr. Harvey M. Guild, was a graduate of the Dartmouth Medical School, class of 1873. Carl himself, connected with a Boston business firm, has for many years lived in Milton, Mass. His elder son is a graduate of Tufts and the younger one of Syracuse University. Undoubtedly, the untimely death of his father when Carl was but four years old made a considerable difference in his own career.
