For the third year in succession, Dartmouth's swimmers came through the dual-meet season with a 10-2 record. Only a upset loss at Harvard cost the Indians sole possession of second place in the Eastern League as the Green finished 7-2 to tie with Princeton, a team they defeated in early February.
Captain Terry Robinson heads a halfdozen Dartmouth swimmers of All American caliber. Robinson, a freestyler, is joined by senior Al Petersen and a sophomore contingent headed by Al Rheem, Jack Dickard, and Dave Freyberg who give every indication of maintaining Dartmouth's high ranking in Eastern swimming.
Rheem was the standout in the final dual meet with Penn as he took the 200yard butterfly in 2:00.5, a record time. Senior Mark Labowitz also came through with a sweep of both diving events against Penn.
The loss at Harvard was a major disappointment to Coach Karl Michael. The Indians were frustrated at every turn by the spirited Crimson and Michael could find little solace in the thought that a duplicate of the times his squad produced against Penn three days later would easily have turned the trick at Harvard.
