Lowell Thomas Jr. '46 of Anchorage, Alaska, is the new president of the General Association of Alumni of Dartmouth College for 1970-71. His election was announced at the annual association luncheon on June 13.
Mr. Thomas is an author, explorer, adventurer, and movie producer. His latest full color film Destination SouthPacific shows magnificent views of New Zealand's southern alps, Australia's wildlife, and coral gardens of the South Sea Islands. In 1965 he participated as official historian in the first historic flight around the world flying over both poles.
The three vice presidents of the General Association of Alumni for 1970-71 are Reginald B. Miner '21 of Wellesley Hills, Mass.; Walter D. Douglas II '31 of Newport Beach, Calif.; and Donald G. Robbins Jr. '36 of Fairfield, Conn. J. Michael McGean '49, Secretary of the College, was reelected secretary.
The chairman of the- Association's executive committee is Frank J. Yeager '60 of Wichita Falls, Texas. Other committee members are Edward B. Redman '06 of Merion Station, Pa.; Kenneth F.
