During this period when Dartmouth is receiving major support through payments to the Third Century Fund and the annual Alumni Fund, it is important not to lose sight of other ongoing ways in which alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations help to meet the challenge of constantly growing demands and increased costs of operation facing the College. The purpose of this column is to make appreciative record of gifts, grants, and bequests of $5,000 or more—other than contributions to the Alumni Fund and outright gifts to the Third Century Fund. The College receives many gifts of less than $5,000 and these are needed and warmly welcomed. In a recent three-month period the total of these more modest gifts, exclusive of those to the Third Century Fund and the Alumni Fund, was $127,454.
