A tremor has broken into the column this month by way of Richard Bean, grandson of "Cap" Jenkins. Richard telephoned his mother Ruth Bean, the day after the Los Angeles earthquake that "other than rattling windows and dishes and a slight 'rolling' their part of Los Angeles was unaffected." But he admits even that was a frightening experience with apprehension as to what might happen.
Estella Brown widow of "Ned" Brown, writes me that for one of her years she is in reasonably good health and lives in her own quarters with occasional help from her daughter-in-law who occupies the downstairs apartment. She is blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren to the number of twelve. She says she is most happy and content to be able to manage her own affairs in her own way.
Charlotte Sanborn, widow of "Chan" Sanborn, enjoys her home in Tilton, N. H., and is still able to drive her car. She was pleased by a recent visit from a granddaughter whose husband is an assistant professor at St. Lawrence U. in Canton, N. Y. She was also pleased by a visit from her granddaughter Anne, a student at Wheaton College.
