All-East and All-Ivy League offensive tackle Joe Leslie from Tucson, Ariz., has signed a free agent contract with the New England Patriots of the National Football League.
Dartmouth representation at the Winter Olympic Games was conspicuous. In addition to Coach Al Merrill, a technical delegate for cross country, Dartmouth had competitors in Nordic Combined specialist Teyck Weed '71, jumper Scott Berry '71, and sophomore Alpine racers Dave Currier and Steve Murphy. Another Dartmouth sophomore, Tom Reaper, represented Canada in the jumping. Kathleen Homstad, a member of the U.S. women's luge team, has Dartmouth ties through her husband, a graduate student at Thayer School.
Also involved at Sapporo were John Caldwell '50, coach of the U.S. men's cross-country team, and former Dartmouth frosh coach Marty Hall who directed the U. S. women's cross-country racers.
