Everything was there but the White Mountains. The Falstaff Inn was the site of the annual (usually) meeting of the St. Louis Dartmouth Alumni Club and its counterpart of Cornell Alumni. Thanks to '33 efforts of Bill Biggs '52, Bob Turner and Club President Ed Daumit '60, the Big Green and plenty of beer it was a success. Lee Curtis '65, wife and child; aging football ex-great Harry Deckert '35;Larry Furrer '56; Gene Gerard '55;Harris McKee '61; Mike Losee '63; Dr.and Mrs. Alfred Horowitz '64; and BillMoorman '60 and a bunch of disappointed Big Red rooters gathered to listen to the "Big" game.

Harris McKee '61 in addition to his duties as District Enrollment Director, is now editor of the Dartmouth Club of St. Louis Newsletter. Much of the following is excerpted from the newly-founded publication.

December 5, 1971 President Kemeny and his lovely wife graced our fair city at a dinner given by the Club in honor of President Kemeny. Several hundred alumni, alumni wives and parents of Dartmouth undergraduates enjoyed a fine dinner and listened to President Kemeny's remarks. The questions which followed the President's remarks clearly indicated that all alumni were not enthusiastic about coeducation. However, everyone in attendance, and especially those previously unfamiliar with President Kemeny's ability, agreed that Dartmouth could have made no finer choice for President than John Kemeny.

The Trustees' decision to go coed sparked some immediate interest from St. Louis area women. Several weeks following the Kemeny dinner, Trustee Tom Curtis '32 met with 48 .applicants for admission to Dartmouth. Five of these applicants were women. Happily, some were daughters of Dartmouth Alumni. Harris McKee '61 coordinated the event at which the Dartmouth film strip was shown to the eager applicants. The Club appreciates Tom Curtis taking time from his busy schedule to meet these young men and women.

New Year's Eve over 100 Dartmouth alumni and families, along with parents of undergraduates gathered at the Ice Arena in St. Louis to watch the Big Green hockey team play the St. Louis University skaters.
