The Rochester Club, under the able direction of Frank Strong '56, started its 1971-72 program with a unique approach to the annual fall picnic. A winery tour at the height of the grape harvest season followed by a family picnic was well received. Despite inclement weather on the scheduled day, an enthusiastic group appreciated the efforts of Vin Tibbals '42 and Bob Shirley '65. Bob not only conceived the idea, but his family and friends were well represented at the tour.

Dartmouth successfully defended its Ivy League Golf Tournament crown at the Country Club of Rochester before the frigid weather descended on upstate New York. Curt Welling '71, Ed Kidd '54, and Henry Dutcher '45 were the mainstays of the Dartmouth contingent who tied an aggressive Penn group. John Schlachtenhaufen '60 organized the affair, and Andy MacDowell '44 provided an excellent program at the 19th hole.

Curt Little '64 and Mike Buckley '65 have been trying to impart new dimensions to the enrollment activity in the Rochester area. Effort is being made to improve the school contact program and finding better means of locating outstanding prospects. It is also planned to cooperate with the DCAC in their intensified effort to recruit more scholar athletes. Local alumni will concentrate on a particular sport to generate interest in Dartmouth. A further endeavor will be to encourage undergraduates from the Rochester area to assist in enrollment activities when they are home on holiday.

The Annual Christmas Luncheon, chaired by Bob Shirley '65, was its usual success; and the annual Dartmouth-Cornell Luncheon, co-chaired by John Schlachtenhaufen '60 and Bruce Campbell '64, was greatly enjoyed by the Dartmouth contingent, especially since football movies were part of the program.

The Club's treasurer, Bob Brown '60, also reports a healthy financial report at the present time, which is quite unusual.

George Kennedy '29 (l), president of theSarasota Club, greeted President Kemenywhen he spoke February 29 at a jointmeeting of the Sarasota and St. Petersburg alumni clubs.
