The first official visit to Arizona by a Dartmouth College president was celebrated by an evening reception and dinner at The Arizona Biltmore. In all, some 90 alumni together with spouses and friends turned out to mark the occasion which was capably organized under the chairmanship of Duncan Newell '36 with some abundant assistance from Frank Poor '26. President Kemeny's speech was introduced by Dr. Merlin Du Val Jr. '44., who represented a contingent attending from the Tucson area. The visit of President and Mrs. Kemeny was a memorable and unifying experience for many of our alumni.

With a reliable attendance of from 10 to 14, we continue to hold our monthly luncheon meetings at 12:00 noon on the first Tuesday of each month at The Arizona Manor - no serious business, just an informal gathering over a good meal. Alumni visiting Phoenix are always welcome. We are especially pleased that Bill Carter '20 has been elected to serve as president of our group. Bill moved to Phoenix upon his retirement from the Dartmouth faculty after a distinguished teaching career that spanned 37 years.
