A trio of alumni has received new appointments within the area of student affairs, in conjunction with a general reorganization and coordination of offices concerned with student services, effective the first of this month.
Robert K. Hage '35, a member of the college administration since 1947 and director of financial aid since 1956, has elected the recently established flexible retirement option available to faculty and administrative officers who are within five years of normal retirement age. Under the option, Hage will for the next four years be a part-time special assistant to the college treasurer with the responsibility of implementing the new loan program for undergraduates and alumni.
Harland W. Hoisington Jr. '48, coordinator of the Dartmouth Plan for year-round operation during its first transitional years since 1972, has succeeded Hage as direactor of financial aid. The Dartmouth Plan Office has been dissolved, with its for advising students on term patterns, off-campus options, and job opportunities being distributed to the offices of the Dean of the College, the Dean of Freshmen, and the director of financial aid and the Faculty Committee on Off-Campus Activities.
Before returning to the College in 1969, Hoisington had been director of financial aid at Columbia University for four years. In the early 1960s, he was assistant dean and assistant director of financial aid at Dartmouth, following several years in the investment business.
Bruce A. Kimball '73 has taken a leave of absence from Harvard Divinity School to become assistant dean of the College. Undergraduate editor of the ALUMNIMAGAZINE his senior year, he is the author of "No Reason... Except Faith: Ten Years of ABC," which appeared in the February 1974 issue of the magazine, and of "That Spring in Jersey City," in the November 1971 issue.
Merton A. Fletcher, left, clerk of the works in the business manager's office, and MasonI. Ingram '29, manager of employee benefits, retired as administrative officers of theCollege this year. Ingram returned to Dartmouth in 1949; Fletcher joined the staff in1960. Also retiring in June, after 14 years of service, was Elsa Jarotski, chief of processing services for the Dartmouth library system.
