A full report of class officers meetings in Hanover during the May Ist weekend will appear in Smoke Signals, hence only a thumb nail report herewith:

Hub Harwood's Smoke Signals earned him the title of Newsletter Editor of the Year at Class Officers' Weekend. Noting that his newsletter production has averaged no less than 10 issues per year for the past ten years, his citation says, "... because of your diligent service in working with the other officers of your Class, the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1926 is destined to establish records that will stand as goals for many classes to come."

Charlie Bishop, as president of the Association of Bequest Chairmen, did an outstanding job chairing three (3 no less!) meetings the joint meeting of all class officers, the Silver Anniversary of the Bequest Program and a 7:45 a.m. breakfast meeting of the head agents and reunion giving chairman; Tubber Weymouth, president, Don Norstrand, secretary, Jack Roberts, treasurer, Russ Clark and Stew Orr, 50th Reunion chairpeople each attended the appropriate meeting of his counterparts, which have great value for the exchange of ideas.

Al Louer, head agent, mindful of the importance of the Alumni Fund, remained at his Highland Park, Ill., Fund office as is his custom. All spouses of the above were present except for Mary Weymouth and Ellen Louer. After the work was done dinner Saturday night at Norwich Inn arranged by Barbara Hayward was enjoyed by all and joined by Hal andCaroline Marshall, Charlie and Helen McKenna, and Les and Dot Talbot.

Because of an unprecedented miracle in typesetting by the hierarchy of this Magazine, this paragraph written May Ist can state that at the June 12th Class Dinner in Hanover the Class of 1926 reported to Dr. Kemeny that over $600,000 had been raised to date as its 50th Reunion Gift to the College. We thought you'd like to know, but more on this and a story of the 50th in the September issue of the Magazine and in Hub Harwood's "Smoke Signals".

Coming down to earth, Ed Hanlon as official class historian has already produced fourteen pages of unofficial class history, so by the above reunion may have had a volume ready for perusal. Very interesting reading and a real work of love.

Les Talbot, whose devoted work for Dartmouth and the Class has no bounds, particularly so since being ensconced with Dot in Hanover home territory, has agreed to take on the chairmanship of the 1926 Memorial Book Committee. Hub Harwood has come up with a suggested project for the consideration of the new chairman and his committee, namely, to seek out all classmates who have authored books, because the Memorial Room should have on its shelves copies of their works. Former chairmen Chuck Webster and Howard Rice, both of whom have done a tremendous job in bringing the memorial program to its present high level, are now turning their talents into-other fields with the sincere thanks of the Class for their fine efforts.

The Class rejoices in the news that Billie Worthingtoin and Robert L. Seiler were married April 3, 1976 in Phoenix, Ariz, and will continue residence in Tucson. Bob was previously married to Billie's late sister.

Other Arizona news: Snipe and Kay Esquerré enjoyed great weather visiting with Mai and Ann Merrill in Tucson, and Bob and Pensé Cleary were in town for a business meeting of Bob's and then travelled on to San Francisco for a visit with Ritchie and Betty Smith.

Dick Husband sent a card from Jugoslavia where the aircraft carrier "Saratoga" on which he is teaching had brought him. He reports an exciting life but strenuous: "We walk about 3 miles a day from quarters to officers' mess to office to class room 3 times a day climbing dozens of ladders - protective measures in case of water, fire or enemy action."

There seems no end to Florida news of 1926ers and we must report a March 29th gathering for cocktails at Charlie and Edith Bishop's apartment welcoming to Sarasota Ed and Margaret Dooley and Hal and Caroline Marshall. Local folk present were Dan and Sally Drury, Pete and Sue Johnson, Holt and Lillian McAloney, Gib and Allie Robinson and Georgeand Janie Yaffe. In due course all adjourned to The Buccaneer for dinner. Ed and EvelynHanlon had to miss this fine evening but had previously attended other festivities of the '26 Sarasota Set.

Finally, wishes for a happy summer and we'll be back in October.
