Love Letter
NOV. 1977

It is with excruciating humbleness that we write this letter to THE ALUMNI MAGAZINE. We are the son and daughters of the famous Donald J. Tobin '22, whose record as a goalie in ice hockey still stands at Dartmouth after 56. years.

Had we known of this record when we were growing up, I daresay we would have treated our father with a little more respect! As it was, we labored under the impression that he was just your average all-time, outstanding dad.

We recognized his athletic prowess early on in our lives. Mainly because he taught us the intricacies of touch football, tennis, golf, and swimming long before most of the kids on the block even knew that those sports were about! However, we had no earthly idea that this man was a record-holder at Dartmouth!

So, it is with great pleasure that we inform you that we presented the "Golden Puck Award" to our dad this last summer at a family reunion. Since then, we bow our heads at the mention of his name, place fresh flowers in front of his picture each day, and generally try to behave the way he always tried to get us to behave in our younger years!

Sincerely, Gregory W. Tobin Sister Fran Tobin, RSCJ Ann Tobin Collins Carol Tobin Giesting
