Vice President Harned resigns

John C. Harned '5O, vice president for alumni and public affairs, has announced his resignation for personal reasons. The announcement was made jointly on April 8 by Harned and President McLaughlin, who noted that "the decision, which was reached after lengthy discussions, was arrived at with great regret and continuing mutual respect. I share Jack's belief that during the last year a great deal has been accomplished."

Harned, who has held the post since January 1984, will be stepping down on June 30. To assist in a smooth transition, Lucretia L. Martin, director of capital giving, has been appointed acting director of development, and Michael Choukas Jr. '51 will continue as director of alumni affairs. Together they will be responsible for the administration of the regular activities of alumni and public affairs during the search for a new vice president.
