Markedly fewer students rushed fraternities and sororities this spring. The deans estimate that only about 45 percent of the freshman class rushed this year compared with 55 percent last year. Six houses saw their membership drop by 20 percent. Some, fraternity presidents speculated that the College's administration influenced students' choices. Kappa Kappa Kappa president Sam Braverman '88 told The Dartmouth, "By casting a negative light on fraternities, they are targeting the system towards termination."
