Class president Dick White was recently honored by the American Association of Nurserymen. Dick was the catalyst in organizing the nurserymen 50 years ago in Portland, Ore. He modestly writes to say that the association inducted him into its Hall of Fame —with an honorary life membership as "they knew I had not too many years left." Also, the Horticultural Research Institute honored its founder and his late wife with the creation of an HRI endowment fund for research: the $25,500 Marion T. and Richard P. White Grant. Dick had previously arranged for such a grant in his will, but HRI wanted to recognize this "giant of the lawn, garden, and nursery industry" while he is alive.
