A reinvigorated fundraising effort, a class project contributing to Dartmouth and to society, an improvement in communications among our scattered classmates, and a new series of Homecoming mini-reunions were among the highlights of the class executive committee meeting held in the fall in Hanover.

President Bruce Baggaley also changed the name of the Soaring Pine Award given at major reunions to outstanding achievers in the classes—to the Alan V. Davies Soaring Pine Award in memory of our classmate who developed the award and presented a dozen of them at the 25th Reunion.

Leading a '63 cheering section as Dart mouth edged Columbia 13—12 in a thriller at Baker Field in New York were Martyand Lenore Bowne of Chatham Town ship, N.J., Armand Villiger and daugher Maggie 14, of Huntington, N.Y., Aaronand Ruth Greenwala (daughter Rachel goes to Barnard) of Maplewood, N.J., and Jim and Heidi Clouser of Westfield, N.J.

Marty Bowne was no doubt preoccupied with the merger and acquisition deal involving the two giant tire companies, Michelin and B.F. Goodrich, in which, as a partner in Arthur Young & Company, he has been involved. Armand, a Tuck M.B.A., is a group publisher at Hearst Business Publishing in Garden City, N.Y., where he supervises three magazines, Electronic Products, Electronic Engineers Master, and Integrated Circuits Master. Armand learned his field as an independent publisher for five years and from a seven-year stint with Chilton, a leading publisher of food trade magazines. Wife Jennifer, also in publishing, and their daughter, Suzi 12, didn't make the game.

Aaron Greenwald is a business and financial consultant specializing in taking companies public. Aaron and Ruth, a librarian, have two children, Rachel 19, a budding pianist, and Emily 15. Very active in alumni affairs, Aaron has been a class officer, president of the local alumni club in New Jersey, and a Dartmouth interviewer.

Jim Clouser, an executive vice president with Merrill Lynch Mortgage Banking Services in New York, has two children, Kimberly 21, and Timothy 20. Wife Heidi is with the New York City Agency for Child Development.

I regret to report the deaths of two classmates recently, John Reinertsen of New York, and Michael Thomas Miller of Dayton, Ohio. Obituary articles on John, an executive recruiter, and Michael, a businessman, will appear in the class news letter and in this magazine.

Congratulations to Dave Browne, OP/NET Project Engineer with East Bay Municipal Utilities, Oakland, Calif. Dave, whose project involves a $20 million computer budget, has been elected president of the Northern California section of the Instrument Society of America. He lives in Concord, Calif.

Any skiers in the crowd? That's a good one! Business Week featured The Trapp Family Lodge run by Johannes G. vonTrapp in a "Personal Business" piece on cross-country skiing. They have over 40 miles of hardwood and evergreen-lined trails.
