I am so happy that Blake 'encouraged' me to write his column this month. I guess if you are going to ride your bike to Europe (or is it through Europe?) it does take a long time to get there, and somebody has to do the class knitting. Since Blake's announcement of this "ghost" writer, my Princeton mailbox has been stuffed with letters and care packages from most of you.
For example, Kevin O'Brien, the infamous mailed me a crate of California avocadoes hand-picked from his San Diego vegetable orchard. Too bad they were postmarked in August... a bit ripe, but a terrific shade of Dartmouth Green. O.B. tells me that he and his lovely New Zealand-born bride, Brenda, have two terrifically athletic, curly haired children, Gaelan 4 and Ellye 2. Kevin and Ellye were preparing for a trip down under to visit the grandparents.
Speaking of overseas, I just heard from Annik Cooper, who is half French and half American, but all Dartmouth. She and her husband, Doug Peabody '74, are immensely enjoying their first child, 15-month-old Alexandra, while living on the fashionable Upper West Side of Manhattan. "Alexandra, whom we call 'Boo Boo,' is already multi-lingual she speaks French, Italian, and Dartmouth."
More baby talk from the midwest. Zenas Hutcheson III is building a dynasty in Minneapolis. He and his wife Suzanne (Lilly) '77 have two sons, ZIV and Henry I. Hey Zenas, how about Eleazar?
Recently I heard from Jeannie (McCullen)Schmidt. She writes, "My husband and I are buying a home in Bethlehem, Ohio, after tenplus years of life in Europe, American South-west, and West Coast. We want to raise our daughter amidst pines, mountains, and granite. "Jeannie, I can't agree with you more.
And finally we hear from Tom Wood, who has been selling municipal bonds for 12 years at Goldman Sachs: "The easiest municipal bonds to sell are for the New Hampshire Educational Facilities Authority for Dartmouth College. These securities have what it really takes to pay off: tradition, spirit, a good football team, and especially a lot of Green!"
Below is a list of class of '7 5 vets from whom we've heard too much!
