I just heard that Lang Davison has finally gotten off the shriek, married and took a four week honeymoon. Will Cattan was there. So, inevitably, was Pete Cholnoky. Noky, according to math experts, has attended 86 weddings since 1983. That's an awful lot of tuxedo rental fees.
Lynn Curtis was an artist in residence in Hanover during January and February. Lynn received her M.F.A. in painting from the University of lowa back in '88, and has been living in Providence, R.I., since then. Before taking her work to Dartmouth, Lynn had it on display at Wheaton College. Lynn also reports that Catherine Nugent is working for an architect in Paris. Trés bien, Catherine.
Marci "Wolk" Taylor has sent in the happy news that, effective last September 22, she and Eric are proud parents. Son Jeffrey arrived that day in fine spirits. The fledgling family resides in Needham, Mass. And GuyBacigalupi sent in a note to advise all that he is living in France. Hmmm... could it be that Guy is the architect that Catherine Nugent now works for? Could it be that the two are sitting together along the Rue Paul Chatrousse, jointly crafting aesthetic delights?
Jim Allen will want to destroy me for telling you this, but that's my problem. Jim has received the Navy Commendation Medal (and corresponding citation) for outstanding work rendered aboard the U.S.S. Princeton. How do I know this? (Jim would never be so vain as to photocopy his letter of commendation and mail it to me—I think). Why, my information comes straight from my favorite septuagenarian '83 news source, Art Allen '32. I also received a copy of a letter Jim wrote home while he was in the Soviet port of Vladivostoc. His observations were fascinating.
Several months ago, I asked for advice about hiking in New Mexico. The response was surprisingly strong (sometimes I think you're all asleep out there), particularly from PerryEdgerton Thomas, who sent maps, cooking utensils, and a sleeping bag to me. Perry asked, "Is this a trick? Are you trying to con those of us in the Southwest to write?" But of course. At any rate, Perry confessed to having lived in Flagstaff, Ariz., for the past four years. She is married, but her husband remains anonymous. Perry just started a doctoral program in biology at Northern Arizona University.
Even as New England's economy plummets, Shawn Borgeson stands tall in Boston, this time with a promotion to Associate Director at Bear Stearns & Co. It could be that Bear Stearns is the only firm in Boston that is actually promoting people, come to think of it. Tom Spence is working as a lawyer in the Boston area and lives in Arlington, Mass. And I've noticed that Jim Bloomer has had these huge, dark circles under his eyes ever since son Weston was born. "Parenthood," he tells me grimly, "it leads to fatigue and higher food bills." But he's grinning as he says all this.
That's all she wrote, folks. It's March, so that means Roger Baumann is anxiously watching his beloved New York Rangers, nervously watching for telltale signs of their traditional late season collapse. Only a Red Sox or Cubs fan can identify with this annual sense of futility.
