Keeping the entreprenurial spirit of our class alive is Blake Winchall. A recent article from the San Francisco Business Times indicates that Blake, like others before him, has broken out on his own with a good idea, a lot of enthusiasm, and a sizable dose of energy. Leaving his "cushy" job at Brae Corporation, Blake has started a new operation called Advan, a unique outdoor advertising concePt

Blake and his troops seek out fleets of clean trucks and vans with maximum exposure routes. Advan then arranges to have outdoor advertising posters attached to the side of the trucks. This provides incremental revenues to the fleet operator and provides the advertiser with a splashy way to get the consumer's attention in a very busy marketplace.

Advan has met with early success operating in San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, and Philadelphia. Blake hopes to grow the existing 838 trucks under management to 2,000 by year-end 1989. We certainly all wish him success and could perhaps help him out by offering our cars for his service.

Word has also arrived of Sandy Tierney's most recent incarnation. I am afraid he still lags me by about three jobs. Leggat McCall/ Grubb & Ellis, one of Boston's largest office and industrial brokerage firms, announced Sandy's appointment as vice president and general manager. He will be responsible for all of the firm's business operations.

I am also informed that Richard Pechter has been elected to fellowship in the American College of Cardiology. After Dartmouth Richard attended New York Medical College and is currently a private practice cardiologist in Vero Beach, Fla. The American College of Cardiology, a 16,500-member non-profit professional medical society and teaching institution, is dedicated to fostering optimal cardiovascular care and disease prevention through professional education, promotion of research and leadership in the development of standards and formulation of health care policy.

From Darryl Lewis came a nice note regarding the whereabouts of a slew of attorneys from our .class. First, Darryl is presently an attorney and professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the College of Business. He has in the past year located Jerry Lovejoy, a corporate attorney for Taco Bell in Los Angeles; VernonBaker, a corporate attorney in New Jersey; and Gary Lafayette, a partner in a San Francisco law firm. The only odd man out is Jerome Taylor, who is practicing medicine in Atlanta, Ga. I guess this means Darryl talks to some people outside the legal community, as well.

See you next month.
