"No real news," writes Fritz Browning. "I'm trying to get a newly organized landowners' condominium association off on a proper footing." Which leads me to speculate: what is "real" news anyway? Answer: whatever concerns any '32 is grist for this old mill. Fritz adds, "Health allowing, hope to make the 60th." Now that is interesting. When you returned your green cards, Greydon and I recorded the Brownings as "hopeful." Hey, "Health allowing" suggests they're definitely coming. Which of us octogenarians doesn't qualify all plans with "health allowing?" We'd like to hear that all January hopefuls can be transferred to our "definitely" list. "Health allowing" goes without saying.
Here are the "definitelys" as of mid-Janu-ary: Adkins, Alexander, D. Allen, Alpert,Auten, zlaesi, Boldt, Brister, Butler,Cardozo, Corbett, Daniels, Denny, A.Dublin, Dunn, Feriyz Fisher, Flint, Freeman, Friedman, Gilbert, Hallamore, L.Heavenrich, Hokanson, Kingdon, Knight,Kramer, Lieson, Marcus, Marks,McConnoczie, McKenzie, North, Noyes,O'Brien, Odegaard, Olmsted, Palmer,Pierson, Pierpont, Power, Roberts, Rowe, E.Smith, Stoiber, Tomlinson, Tucker, Walser,Ward, Wentworth, Westbeimer, Whitehair,G. Zimmerman, J. Zimmerman.
A bit of really good news is that Milt Alpert, who has been shepherding our big bucks into the Alumni Fund for five years, has agreed to serve as head agent for another five. "If asked," he says. (!) Milt and his henchmen have plugged away so valiandy that we owe them a big debt of gratitude. Now is the time to send your pledge or check if you haven't already. How about doubling what you contributed last year out of gratitude for being old enough to attend your 60th reunion?
More good news: Howdy and DottiePierpont have journeyed to Dartmouth from Darien, Conn., so many times that they finally gave in and bought a house in Hanover. Your secretary hasn't heard whether the Darien residence is up for sale, but at least we're hoping to have the Pierponts among us for a big chunk of each year.
